The title of my blog comes from the epigraph of my book:
This is from Pedro Joaquin Chamorro’s rumination on the fate of Nicaragua following a major natural and geopolitical disaster. I take the insight more broadly as a provocation to consider the relations between history, nature, and power.
I teach U.S., Latin American, and global history in Colorado. I’ve taught courses on Latin American studies focused on race, the environment, and revolution, as well as literature and film. I’ve also taught comparative urban studies, U.S. media history, immigration, political culture, and surveys of U.S., Latin American, and global history. You can find links to my work here.
